Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment (melanin) in your hair using a concentrated beam of light. This light safely travels down the hair shaft to the root, where it disrupts the blood supply and damages the follicle—slowing down future growth.
At Leigh Glow Clinic, we use the Motus AY system which combines Alexandrite and Nd:YAG laser technologies—proven to be safe and effective for all skin tones. You may feel a warm, pinprick sensation during treatment, which is the laser working its magic at the root.
Hair grows in cycles, and only follicles in the active (anagen) phase respond to treatment. As not all hairs are in this stage at the same time, multiple sessions are needed to see the best results. Over time, regrowth becomes finer, lighter and less noticeable.
Suitability varies from person to person, but here’s a general guide:
✔️ We can treat all skin types safely.
✔️ Hair must have pigment (dark brown, black, dark blonde).
❌ We can’t treat grey, white, very light blonde or some red hairs.
❌ We can’t treat over tattoos, but we can work around them.
❌ We cannot treat if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, under 18, have an immune-related condition, or active skin infections.
❌ No sunbeds, tans or fake tans prior to treatment—skin must be at its natural tone.
Every client is required to have a patch test before beginning treatment. This allows us to check your skin’s response and confirm suitability. Patch tests must be done at least 4 days before treatment (skin tones I–III) or 7 days before (skin tones IV–VI).
Most clients need between 6 to 10 sessions, followed by occasional maintenance treatments to stay smooth. However, this can vary depending on:
